Rev. Phyllis Barren, MS, LPC-I
Reverend Phyllis Barren is an Associate Pastor at FUMC Fort Worth where she serves as Director of Counseling & Support Ministries. In addition, she is the minister to Congregational Care, Senior Adult Ministries, and Women’s Ministries.
She began her ministry in 1995 as the Director of Children’s Ministry at Overton Park United Methodist Church. In 1997, she moved to Keller UMC as an associate minister of Evangelism and Congregational Care. She was instrumental in starting a community partnership with the Keller ISD by creating a non-profit tutoring program for underprivileged children.
Phyllis received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from North Texas State University in 1986 and her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Woman’s University in 1988. She obtained her seminary training from Perkins School of Theology. She received her master’s degree of Counseling/Psychology from Tarleton State University in May 2014. Shirley J. Kalling, M.Ed., LPC
Shirley J. Kalling has been in private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1994. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Rio Grande University, Ohio, and a Masters from Texas A & M University. She has experience as an elementary, secondary, and special education counselor, and facilitates grief support groups as requested through the church. She focuses on short-term counseling to address many issues clients are dealing with. She offers a wide array of counseling services including individual, family, couples and group. Judith Lester, MA, LMFT
Judith (Judy) Lester has been in private practice in the Fort Worth area since 1991. Prior to that time she practiced in Louisville, KY from 1979 – 1990. She has a BS in Education from Mississippi College and an MA in counseling from Wake Forest University. She is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist by the Texas Board of Examiners since 1992. She provides individual, marital, and family psychotherapy in the following areas: self-esteem, personal growth, mid-life crisis, anxiety, depression, grief, conflict management, co-dependency, mother-daughter issues, communication skills, parenting skills, premarital issues, and separation/divorce issues. Bryan Bellamy is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. He has a Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University. He has worked with and facilitated groups for individuals dealing with divorce, grief, unemployment and job transitions, men’s issues as well as those caring for loved ones.
